After passing the city of Pamplona, Burgos is a jaw dropper for it’s beauty and history. I entered the city through the Arch of San Juan, the same arch Chistopher Columbus passed through as crowds cheered him upon his return after discovering the New World. It gave me goosebumps.
I was stunned by the gothic architecture of the Cathedral of Santa Maria of Burgos. It sits in the center of town commanding attention. Intricate carvings adorn the exterior. I stood outside fixated on the master craftsmanship. Inside was a collection of sacred historical art. One was a sculpture of Jesus on the cross made with real human skin.
I went into this magnificent Cathedral where I prayed and thanked God. He walked with me all of these 180 miles from the Pyrenees Mountains to Burgos. I spent hours on my knees thanking Him. How could I do anything less considering what I survived in the Pyrenees and everything up to this point?
Buen Camino!
